Everyone is ready when they arrive.
The front line: twenty armed guards at the front entrance and Kiki with her sniper rifle in the high window. The back entrance is boarded up and several homemade explosives are placed under trash outside of it.
The second line: Every fighting tenant (about fifty in total) led by Jabber and Sam are waiting in the stairwells and around hallway corners, ordered only to engage in close combat because they have no guns. All windows have wooden boards with nail-spikes beneath them. All elevators are rigged to collapse once started. The roof is boarded up and the staircase up to it is covered in oil. If the door is broken, the oil ignites.
The last line: Amstrad in front of the locked door to the cafeteria, in which every non-fighting tenant is being hidden.

Jabber can only hear the gunfire when it starts. With the windows in his wing boarded, all he sees are flashes of white light from outside as the jawbreaker’s mounted turrets tear apart the marble facade to the building. Someone shouts about guards being down. The fighting tenants seem resolute, which surprises Jabber.
"You guys ready to die for this?' he asks with his sardonic smile.
"Yes." one responds. Totally serious. Jabber curses under his breath.
Not long after the intensity of the fire from the front dies down, explosions are heard coming from the alleyway behind the back door. Someone screams about roasted pork. Sam runs by Jabber's wing, leading about ten tenants to the back to fight off the cops before they finish drilling through the door. As they do, he hears the command for the front lines to fall back. They've busted through the main entrance.
Jabber is frantically pacing the halls and looking for something to shoot, but there's nothing. Just signs of near chaos. The hallways are filling with a choking white smoke, thunderous footsteps crash below them. He hears someone say that the police chief got his brains blown out by Kiki, but someone else says that there's no way the police chief was here. Jabber continues searching, now breaking into a run.
He sees a tenant looking out the crack of a boarded window, confused."What's going on?" Jabber asks.
"They're- they're setting up explosives." The tenant backs up and points.
Jabber looks. Two stories below, a squad of five or six swat officers are rigging a bomb to a column of the building.
"Fuck!" Jabber shouts. "Tell the others! Tell everyone!" he commands the tenant. They run off, screaming.
"They've come in through the roof!" Another messenger echoes down the wing."
Their cars are on fire!" another says.
"The front is secure!" says the last.
No news from the back. Jabber runs down the stairs and to the back door, where Sam and the others are barely suppressing fire by throwing bricks and molotov cocktails at the cops. Everyone's got their shirts up over their mouths because the smoke is so strong. A canister of tear gas is shot at them, but Sam catches it and throws it back. Still, the wind pushes the gas inwards.
Everyone retreats further. The dead are being left in heaps in the halls. Jabber feels his shoes collecting blood from the damp torn carpet.
Jabber fires back at the jawbreakers, hits a couple, but almost gets shot himself.
"What's going on up there?" he hears Amstrad cry.
   "They're gaining!" Jabber replies.
A massive explosion is heard from the front, shaking the entire building.
"I'll check it out!" Jabber shouts over the gunfire.
Running through the hallways again, he passes an elevator door propped open and sees the cabin in a smoldering wreck at the bottom of its shaft. He meets with the guards and Marcus at the front, taking cover behind pillars and corners as the jawbreakers with riot shields have secured the lobby.
"What was that explosion?!" Jabber asks.
"A swat car got here but Kiki got a nice shot in! Blew it up!"
   "Shit!" Jabber shouts excitedly.
"In here it's looking bad, but she's holding it down outside!"
A jawbreaker in swat gear coming from the stairs above them, behind the front line, shoots Marcus in the back and he dies instantly. Jabber whirls around and shoots them, but there's more coming.
"Fall back! Fall back! They're behind us!" he shouts.
Sam comes from behind the new force and her soldiers begin slicing their backs. Jabber is totally lost, his ears are ringing, he can't tell who's winning.
He stumbles back towards Amstrad in a daze, and leans against the wall. Down the hall, he can see Amstrad with those stupid glasses standing ready.
He hears someone shout something urgently, but he can't make out the word.
There it is again, something like "gishic hanaber' what could that mean?
The ringing dies out. Sam goes flying past him, through a wooden wall, and is sent sliding across the concrete floor.
   He looks.
   He hears the cry again.
   "DISTRICT MANAGER!"
The last thing Jabber sees before his head explodes is a man in a business suit looking down on him. Buzzing sensation, butterflies in your stomach, pop.

DISTRICT MANAGER
